summer project august | process

Since I mostly finished and was happy with my piece in July, in August I focused on fixing the background, particularly the sky. I did not like the orange at all and wanted to create a more cohesive color palette. Due to the nature of the watercolors, I was a bit stumped on how to actually cover the orange, but I ended up layering a mix of the ground itself and blue watercolor to create a sort-of swirly sky that I think works really well! Personally I'm very happy with how this piece turned out, though I think the colors could be slightly brighter--I think that's more a result of the watercolors I used than anything else.
