This was our third in-class project (4th overall if we count the home project), and my personal goals were to utilize color and paint, whereas my teacher-established goals were to establish a foreground, midground, and background. I think I accomplished this relatively well, and while the painting could've been more polished, the weeks were just too hectic to really polish. I'm pretty happy with it though! I started by sketching out what I wanted it to look like and then translating this onto canvas. There were several sketches before we found a decent composition, and once on the canvas there were a few more issues I needed to fix to maximize the composition. Then I just started painting, blocking in the people first and the trying to establish the background. I enjoyed the process a lot, but I think I'm ready to try oil paints after this because I really struggled with value with acrylics, and I'd just like a change for my next project. I unfortunately did forget to take proper process photos, but I at least have the original sketch and the mostly-finished piece to compare. :(
